Who We Are

Open Student Network for Burma (OSNB) is a grassroots activists organization based on both community and academia that was newly formed at the San Francisco State University on June 5, 2004. Initially it was started by the students from the courses: 1) International Peace Law and 2) Ideas of Mahatma Gandhi.

Philosophy

Our philosophy is personal change can bring about social change by bridging the ideas of non-violence and existing International Peace Laws.

Mission

Our mission is to support Burma democracy movement by promoting the Burma Freedom Struggle Political Campaign to the global community: To highlight the awareness of the oppressed people of Burma as well as to bring light to the diverse ethnic nationalities.

Values

We value the practice of true democracy as well as we are committed to social justice and peace. The true democracy that we believe is a process in which each and every one including elderly, differently able persons, ethnic minorities, women, homosexual sisters and brothers etc. have equal opportunities to participate in making decisions for the society. Among society and between communities, there is respect, caring and sense of community for every one.
